Croatian Rampart 1991-2021 is a common term for exercises and activities that are planned to be conducted from April to June 2021 in order to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Croatian Armed Forces and in order to demonstrate the national and joint capabilities of the Croatian Armed Forces together with allies and partners.
Croatian Rampart 1991-2021 includes the following military exercises:
“ŠTIT 21” (“SHIELD 21”), April 2021
- 119th Croatian Army Brigade training area at Cape Kamenjak
Military exercise “SHIELD 21” was conducted from April 12-16, 2021 at the 119th Croatian Army Brigade Training area at Cape Kamenjak in Premantura, near the city of Pula. This was the first in a series of exercises within the framework of Croatian Rampart 1991-2021..
Military exercise “SHIELD 21” is the main training event of the air defense units in 2021. The aim of this exercise is to assess the training and capability of air defense members to detect, monitor and aim at targets in the airspace, to transfer information and provide situation reports in the area of operations. 255 members of the Croatian Armed Forces participated in this exercise.
“STABILNOST 21/1” (“STABILITY 21/1”), April 2021

Military exercise “STABILITY 21/1” is conducted to assess the operational capability of CAF components to carry out the assigned missions and tasks in the area of deployment. Due to epidemiological measures, the exercise was held at two different locations.
In particular, it is conducted to assess the operational capability of the components of HRVCON to be deployed to NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group Poland, and to assess the operational capability of the components of HRVCON deployed to the KFOR mission in the Republic of Kosovo. Approximately 400 members of the Croatian Army, Croatian Air Force, Support Command, Military Police and Cyber Command will participate in the exercise.
“PRSTAC 21” (“DATE SHELL”)&”BARAKUDA 21″ (“BARRACUDA”), May 2021

The military exercises conducted by Croatian Navy units in May at Žirje naval training area, Zvizdulja military training area and Zvečevo military barracks. The purpose of exercise “Barracuda 21” is to train the Croatian Navy Fleet for organization, planning and execution of surface target live firing.
The purpose of exercise “Date Shell 21” is to train the Croatian Coast Guard for planning and conduct of maritime operations (maritime interception operations, and search and rescue operations at sea).
“ASTRAL KNIGHT 21”, May 2021

Exercise “Astral Knight 21” is an exercise involving air forces and integrated air defense forces led by the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and the U.S. Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA).
The exercise is envisaged to provide air and missile defense to seaports and allied forces during debarkation as part of the international military exercise “Immediate Response 21.”
“LAUFER 21”, May 2021

The international military exercise “Laufer 21” is the main training event of Croatia’s presidency over the A-5 Initiative, involving military intelligence forces of the U.S.-Adriatic Charter countries. Exercise supports “Immediate Response 21” and is held at several military locations/training areas within Croatia.
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces as well as armed force members from Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, the United States and Slovenia are participating in this exercise.
“IMMEDIATE RESPONSE 21”, May 2021

The international military exercise “Immediate Response 21” is part of the “Southern Exercise Portfolio”exercise series led by the U.S. European Command (EUCOM). “Immediate Response 21” is a part of exercise “DEFENDER-Europe 21” (DE21), held in in Europe from April to early June 2021 and led by the U.S. Air Forces in Europe and the U.S. Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA).
The purpose of exercise “Immediate Response 21” is to promote regional stability and cooperation, and to improve partner capabilities and interoperability with NATO and partner forces through multilateral exercises aimed at providing joint support to reception and integration of NATO forces in the area of operations, and to integration of different multinational forces in order to prepare them for further engagement.
Members of the Croatian Armed Forces together with members of the Armed Forces of Slovenia, the United States, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will participate in exercise “Immediate Response 21” in the Republic of Croatia.
Apart from Croatia, exercise IR21 will also be held on the territory of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, North Macedonia and Slovenia.
“BLACK SWAN 21”, June 2021

The international military exercise involving special forces is aimed at exercising the planning and conduct of special operations in a joint international environment. Its purpose is to achieve initial operational capabilities of the Regional Special Operations Component Command (R-SOCC).
The exercise will be held in May and June in the Republic of Croatia and Hungary. Members of the Special Forces Command, Croatian Navy and Croatian Air Force and Air Defense together with members of the U.S. Special Forces, special forces of Hungary, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will participate in this exercise.
“CYBER MWCKE”, June 2021

The international military cyber defense exercise involving representatives of the Croatian Armed Forces, the United States and Kosovo.
The purpose of this exercise is to provide a real-life experience of working together in a simulated computer network to respond to computer security incidents and cyber attacks, and to develop collaborative relations and communication between the teams.
